Being part of Inunnguqsaivik means you’ll have the opportunity to connect with others enrolled in similar programs and will receive access to a wide range of customized supports to meet your needs.

What supports are offered?
Inunnguqsaivik will provide you with easy access to a variety of support services which can be tailored to your personal needs as you complete your learning journey. I have not finished high school; can I still participate?
Yes! Being part of Inunnguqsaivik does not require a minimum education level. If you are a student currently enrolled in school, an adult who partially completed high school, or if you are interested in a career in land and resource management, there are a variety of learning opportunities to get you ready for your new career. Some learning pathways may require additional learning or training, followed by post-secondary education. If you are in high school now, we can help you plan your next steps for after graduation. What (types of) jobs will be available?
There are a mix of jobs involved in the management of Nunavut public lands and resources including science-based professional and technical jobs, policy jobs, and program administration jobs. These jobs are at a variety of levels from entry through to management.

Why are these jobs becoming available?
New career opportunities will become available in the Government of Nunavut following Devolution — the transfer of responsibilities for Nunavut’s public lands (nuna) and resources from the Government of Canada to the Government of Nunavut. An agreement has been negotiated and signed by the Government of Nunavut, the Government of Canada and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated to achieve this transfer.

Why is land and resource management important for Nunavut?
Land and resource management is essential for the preservation and maintenance of the health and integrity of the land and its ecosystems, as well as its cultural and historical significance. These roles and responsibilities for protecting and maintaining the land are sometimes referred to as land “stewardship” or “guardianship” and are important in order to make valuable connections to Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit self-determination.

What organizations are behind this Initiative?
Inunnguqsaivik is part of the Transitional Human Resources Development Strategy for Devolution developed collaboratively by the Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, and the Government of Canada.
