Senior Citizen Supplementary Benefit

The Senior Citizen Supplementary Benefit (SCSB) is a monthly payment of $300.00 made to low-income seniors in Nunavut. 

Nunavut has an agreement with the federal government that automatically includes the SCSB benefit payment to the monthly Old Age Security cheque.

Those in receipt of the SCSB receive at T5007 from Income Assistance each tax year.

Who Can Participate?

Nunavummiut who are 60 years of age or older and are receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or the Spouse’s Allowance from the federal government are eligible.

How to Apply:

You must apply for the federal Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or Spouse Allowance.
Each year following, to continue receiving  the GIS supplement, you must complete your annual income tax return.
