Whale Cove Ayautaq Justice Committee seeking members

The Whale Cove Ayautaq Justice Committee is looking for members.

Justice committees in Nunavut use a community-based justice approach to assist victims of crime and work with people who have caused harm by committing an offence.

Applicants should have knowledge and experience in restorative justice, and in dealing with social issues. They should also have knowledge of Inuit societal values, and should be sensitive to helping victims and offenders.

Training concerning members’ roles and responsibilities will be provided. Committee members are volunteer positions, with honoraria for attending meetings.

If you are interested, please submit your resumé and criminal record check to Crystal Okalik, Whale Cove’s community justice outreach worker. For more information, call 867-896-9961 or email @email.

Deadline for submission is November 10, 2016.
