Safety warning for Iqaluit Deep Sea Port

The Department of Economic Development and Transportation is advising Iqalummiut that an icebreaker escorting fuel tanker ships to the Deep-Sea Port is expected to arrive on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Due to the icebreaking activity and fuel offloading at the port, residents are asked to exercise a high degree of caution in the area.

Residents traveling by snowmobile or dogsled are reminded that it is not yet safe to travel on the sea ice, which will be broken up further by the incoming icebreaker.

Your cooperation and patience are appreciated at this time.
