Restorative Justice Week

Restorative Justice Week is November 15-22, 2015. This year’s theme is Inspiring Innovation.

Restorative justice involves victims, offenders, Elders and community members affected by crime working together to find solutions to repair harm and promote harmony.

In Nunavut, community justice specialists, outreach workers, and committees are working together with the RCMP to prevent individuals from appearing in court. They have also been working with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada to prevent individuals from going to jail.

Restorative Justice Week events will take place throughout Nunavut. Nunavummiut are encouraged to contact their community justice outreach worker for information about local events.
