The Department of Justice is rescheduling some of its community consultations on the new Corrections Act for more public engagement. This includes holding another community consultation in Iqaluit and rescheduling the cancelled Cape Dorset meeting.

Community feedback is essential to develop this important initiative. The new legislation will take into consideration the unique needs of Nunavummiut and the safe reintegration of inmates into their home communities.

Community consultations are being held in the following communities:

  • Cambridge Bay on Thursday, September 15 in the Elders’ Palace at 7 p.m.
  • Kugluktuk on Monday, September 19 in the community hall at 7 p.m.
  • Rankin Inlet on Tuesday, October 11 in the Siniktarvik Banquet Room at 7 p.m.
  • Dates to follow for rescheduled Cape Dorset and Iqaluit meetings

For more information about the upcoming consultations, please contact the Department of Justice’s policy division at @email.

Refreshments will be provided.
