Minister Sheutiapik to assume the Status of Women portfolio

IQALUIT, Nunavut (May 11, 2018) – Premier Paul Quassa announced today that the Status of Women portfolio will be added to Minister Elisapee Sheutiapik’s Cabinet responsibilities.

"Minister Sheutiapik’s current role as Minister of Family Services, in addition to her previous experience as president of the Qulliit Status of Women and Pauktutiit Inuit Women of Canada, makes her a perfect fit for this portfolio. She will be a strong voice for women’s rights and interests in our government and our territory," said Premier Quassa.

Minister of Justice, Jeannie Ehaloak, was serving in this role since November 2017. Premier Quassa thanked Minister Ehaloak for her hard work and contributions to the Status of Women portfolio during her tenure.

The portfolio change is effective immediately.
