Launch of the 2015 Qilaut album

To mark the end of Uqausirmut Quviasuutiqarniq, the Department of Culture and Heritage is launching the 2015 Qilaut compilation album. Qilaut is Nunavut’s new annual Inuktut songwriting contest.

On February 24, 2016, people are invited to the Francophone Centre in Iqaluit for the launch and concert, where artists will perform all the winning songs. There will be two concerts – one from 2-4 p.m., and one from 7-9 p.m.

Free copies of the album will be available at the Department of Culture and Heritage (Trigram building 903), or they can be downloaded at: www.ch.gov.nu.ca.

Qilaut was created to celebrate Nunavut’s vibrant Inuktut music scene, and promote the use of Inuktut in daily life.
