Health measures remain the same in Kugluktuk
Kugluktuk, Nunavut (March 10, 2022) – Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer, today announced that public health measures in Kugluktuk will not be easing as previously announced.
“The current status of COVID-19 in Kugluktuk is putting undue strain on the health system in the community. For that reason, we have decided to delay the easing of public health measures in this community,” said Dr. Patterson. “We will monitor the situation and reassess easing restrictions in Kugluktuk once we are confident it will not negatively affect health care capacity.”
Current public health measures that remain in effect:
- Outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people.
- Indoor gatherings are limited to 10 people plus household members.
- Restaurants and licensed facilities may open at 25 people capacity or 25 per cent capacity, whichever is less. No singing or dancing will be permitted.
- Public indoor gatherings are limited to 25 people or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less.
- Gym capacity is 25 people or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less. Group sessions limited to 10 people.
- Libraries, museums, and galleries capacity increases to 25 people or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less. Group tours limited to 10 people.
- Arena capacity may increase to 50 people or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less, as well as a maximum of 50 spectators.
- Team sports are permitted.
- Places of worship are limited to 50 people or 25 per cent capacity, no singing.
- Masks remain mandatory.
Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms is advised to call the COVID hotline at
1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST or notify their community health centre right away by telephone. Please do not go to the health centre in person.
COVID-19 vaccines are available to all Nunavummiut aged 5 and older. Contact your health centre to make an appointment.
