Government Employment in Nunavut Telephone Survey

· The Government of Canada, with the support of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and the Government of Nunavut, has hired the market research company R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. to gather information about government employment in Nunavut.

· Throughout the month of July 2015, the company will be conducting focus groups and a telephone survey with Inuit who are enrolled under the NLCA and are between the ages of 18 and 64.

· Participation in this research is completely voluntary and anonymous. The answers provided will be very useful to help government agencies understand how to develop initiatives to increase Inuit employment, such as training programs and Inuit employment plans.

· You will not be asked to disclose any information about your finances, bank accounts or credit cards.

· The survey is registered with the Marketing Research Intelligence Association (MRIA). You can call the MRIA to verify the legitimacy of this survey at the following number: 1-888-602-6742. The survey registration code is: 20150608-529V.

· The report with the results of this research will be publicly available on the Library and Archives Canada website six months after the end of the phone surveys and discussion groups. A link to the report will also be available on the NTI website.

Q: Why are you conducting this research?

A: R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. is working on behalf of the Government of Canada, with the support of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and the Government of Nunavut, to better understand the employment interests, goals and needs of Inuit residing in Nunavut.The survey is being conducted with Inuit who are enrolled under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement (NLCA) and are between the ages of 18 and 64.

Q: What will this survey ask about?

A: As you may know, Article 23 of the NLCA states that government employment in Nunavut should reflect the population it serves. Thus, the survey asks about your availability, interest, and preparedness to work for either a hamlet, the City of Iqaluit, the Government of Nunavut or the Government of Canada. The answers you provide will be very useful to help government agencies understand how to develop initiatives to increase Inuit employment, such as training programs and Inuit employment plans.

Q: Will this survey ask me to provide personal financial information?

A: You will not be asked to disclose any information about your finances, bank accounts or credit cards.

Q: Are responses confidential?

A: All information that you provide will be handled in accordance with the Canadian Privacy Act (http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/p-21/) and other applicable laws, including the privacy policy of R.A. Malatest & Associates available at http://www.malatest.com/Privacy.htm. Your answers to the questions will remain anonymous. Results will always be reported for a group of people, never for a single individual, and your name will not be in any reports.
