Gjoa Haven and Taloyoak schools return to 100 per cent capacity on March 14
Iqaluit, Nunavut (March 11, 2022) – Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer, is announcing that as of March 14 school capacity in Gjoa Haven and Taloyoak will increase to 100 per cent.
“The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Gjoa Haven and Taloyoak continues to improve, and it is safe for schools to open to full capacity,” said Dr. Patterson.
“For the first time since this most recent wave of COVID-19 began, I am happy to see that all Nunavut schools will be welcoming students back to full-time, in-class instruction”, said Minister of Education, Pamela Gross. “I want to assure parents and students of Gjoa Haven and Taloyoak that their schools are following strict health and safety protocols so that students can return to class as safely as possible.”
Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms – runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, or difficulty breathing – should call the COVID hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EDT. There are longer wait times to get through to the hotline, so please remain patient. Please do not call or go to the health centre.
