COVID-19 vaccines continue to be available

Vaccination is effective at reducing the risk of severe COVID-19 infection. COVID-19 vaccines are available to all Nunavummiut aged 6 months and older.

Evidence has shown that vaccine effectiveness against COVID-19 infection fades over time. Booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines can enhance or restore protection that might have decreased since your previous dose. For those aged 12 or older, boost your protection if:

  • It’s been 6 months since your last COVID-19 dose or
  • It’s been 6 months since a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infection.

At this time, children aged 5 to 11 are eligible to receive one booster after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccine series.

Don’t forget, layering individual public health measures is always a good idea:

  • Stay home when sick.
  • Wear a mask in crowded places (remember, masks are mandatory in all health facilities and long-term care centres to protect both staff and patients).
  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Maintain physical distance.

Iqaluit Public Health reminds Iqalummiut to call 867-975-4810 for the latest information on walk-in clinics. Please call ahead before going to Iqaluit Public Health.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available at your local health centre. Book your vaccine today.
