COVID-19 presumptive cases identified in Resolute Bay

Iqaluit, Nunavut (February 8, 2022) – Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer is announcing 22 new reported cases of COVID-19 in the territory, and four presumptive cases in Resolute Bay. There are no changes in public health measures in Resolute Bay at this time.

There are currently 366 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut – 16 in Arviat, 18 in Baker Lake, 18 in Cambridge Bay, two in Chesterfield Inlet, 11 in Coral Harbour, one in Gjoa Haven, 38 in Igloolik, 130 in Iqaluit, zero in Kimmirut, 12 in Kinngait, zero in Kugaaruk, six in Kugluktuk, zero in Naujaat, four in Qikiqtarjuaq, five in Pangnirtung, six in Pond Inlet, 34 in Rankin Inlet, nine in Sanirajak, 15 in Sanikiluaq, 38 in Taloyoak, three in Whale Cove.

There have been 971 total reported recoveries in this outbreak. To date there have been 19 hospitalizations.

Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms is advised to call the COVID hotline at
1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EDT or notify their community health centre right away by telephone. Please do not go to the health centre in person.
