Business licence fee regulations

The Department of Community and Government Services’ (CGS) Consumer Affairs Division issues Nunavut-wide business licences under the Business Licence Act and its respective Business Licence and Registration Fees Regulations.  

To ensure compliance with the Canadian Free Trade Agreement, the Government of Nunavut recently repealed and replaced regulations that required companies based outside of Nunavut to pay an increased fee to do business here.

Going forward, businesses will pay a common licence fee of $50. The change supports promotion of local economies and minimizes barriers to starting a business.

Municipalities also offer licences for businesses operating in one community only.

Consumer Affairs continues to accept business licence applications for the 2023/24 fiscal year.
