Boil Water Advisory – Inuksugait Plaza area, City of Iqaluit
The Department of Health and the City of Iqaluit issued a boil water advisory on Thursday, April 23, 2015, for the following areas of the City of Iqaluit: Inuksugait Plaza buildings 1104A,B,C, 1106, and buildings 985, 1087, 1089, 1093, 1103 and 1107.
The boil water advisory remains in effect.
Until further notice all residents in the affected area of Iqaluit must boil their water before consumption.
This is a precautionary measure due to the water main break and repair in the area of Inuksugait Plaza. The Department of Health is working closely with the City of Iqaluit. Water testing is being done on an ongoing basis. Please watch for further advisories.
During a boil water advisory, all water for consumption must be brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.
It is essential that all water be boiled for the following uses:
- drinking;
- preparing infant formula;
- preparing juices and ice cubes;
- washing fruits and vegetables;
- cooking; or
- brushing of teeth.
Water can be boiled, either in a pot or kettle, on a stove or an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off.
It is not necessary to boil water used for anything other than the above list.
