Wildlife damage prevention and compensation programs

The Department of Environment has two programs to help you if your personal property has been, or is at risk of being damaged by wildlife.

The Wildlife Damage Prevention Program can help you pay for cabin upgrades, electric fences, bear-resistant containers and other equipment that can help keep your property safe from wildlife.

The Wildlife Damage Compensation Program can help you if, after taking all reasonable prevention measures, your property is damaged by wildlife.

For more information about both programs, please visit http://www.gov.nu.ca/environment/information/programs, or contact your local conservation officer.
