Various Elite brand products recalled due to Salmonella

The Department of Health is warning about a food recall issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Elite brand is recalling various products from store shelves due to possible Salmonella contamination. These products include various candies, gum, chocolates and wafers.

This recalled product should be thrown out or returned to the location where it was purchased.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause sickness. Short-term symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Young children, pregnant women, Elders and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your local health centre.
