Upgrade to new SPOT devices 

The Government of Nunavut is upgrading to a new SPOT device. The Generation 1 SPOT units are being replaced by new Generation 3 units. 

The Generation 3 SPOT units are active and are available to use in: 

  • Arctic Bay 
  • Baker Lake 
  • Cambridge Bay 
  • Cape Dorset 
  • Chesterfield Inlet 
  • Clyde River 
  • Coral Harbour 
  • Gjoa Haven 
  • Grise Fiord 
  • Pond Inlet 
  • Resolute Bay 
  • Whale Cove 
  • Iqaluit 

As of June 22, 2018, old Generation 1 SPOT devices will be deactivated in these communities. 

SPOT devices in remaining Nunavut communities will continue to be active and safe to use. They will be replaced at a later date.
