Protecting Elders against financial abuse

Financial abuse, which is the most common type of Elder abuse in Canada, is growing because people live longer and Elders can be socially isolated.

The Office of the Superintendent of Securities has documents on financial abuse and a checklist to help Elders identify if they are being abused. These documents are available by calling 867-975-6590 or by visiting www.nunavutlegalregistries.ca.

The Office works with its colleagues across Canada to protect investors and produce information to protect against financial market fraud.

If you feel you or someone you know has been targeted or is a victim of financial abuse, please contact your local Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment.
