Online Scams – Buyer Beware

The Department of Community and Government Services’ Consumer Affairs division would like to advise Nunavummiut of potential online scams.

Conduct transactions for goods and services safely by increasing your awareness of various scams and the protections available.

Always verify the identity of the seller and refrain from responding to suspicious communications such as calls, messages, and e-mails.

Nunavummiut can access the Better Business Bureau scam tracker at www.bbb.org/scamtracker to report a scam or look up a scam if you feel that you are being targeted by a scam.

Every consumer has a right to expect to only pay for the goods and services provided. To report incidents of scam and fraud, contact Consumer Affairs at @email or 1-866-223-8139, or your local RCMP Detachment.
