Nunavut participates in National Coordinated Point-in-Time Homelessness Count

In an effort to improve understanding of the needs and circumstances of Nunavummiut who are affected by homelessness, Nunavut will take part in a coordinated national effort to measure homelessness across Canada.

Staff from the Government of Nunavut department of Family Services, Poverty Reduction division, will be working with local teams in Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet, April 18-19 and with local teams in Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk and Kugaaruk, April 23-25. They will speak with individuals who are staying in shelters, living in shacks or sleeping without shelter. This work will provide a "snapshot" of homelessness in these communities.

Information provided is confidential and anonymous and participants will be compensated for their time. For more information, contact Jennifer Jhingoor at

867 975-5252 or Francine Doucet at 867 975-5210, or email @email.

This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Homelessness Partnering Strategy. It will add to the information collected through household survey work that took place in Pond Inlet and Clyde River, and that will be conducted in Arviat and Gjoa Haven.
