Nunavut Food Security Coalition participates in Every Plate Full

Start Date: May 9, 2016

End Date: May 31, 2016

Nunavut-wide 45 sec

This May, food banks across Canada will come together to contribute to the Every Plate Full Food Drive. The goal is to raise food and funds at the local level to ensure every Canadian has a full plate this summer.

In support of this campaign, the Nunavut Food Security Coalition has updated the Nunavut Community-Based Food Programs resource. The document, which provides contact information to connect donors with established recipients, is now available on the Coalition website at http://www.nunavutfoodsecurity.ca/sites/default/files/news/2016NunavutCo....

The Coalition encourages individuals or organizations who want to get involved to consider donating money rather than food to community-based programs, as these programs have a proven history of acquiring and distributing food in their community.

Anyone who wishes to donate food locally can do so thanks to the Government of Nunavut’s Donation of Food Act, which encourages food donations to nonprofit groups while protecting those who make donations.
