Health services will remain open on Day of Mourning

To ensure continuity and quality of care, the Department of Health will be maintaining all regular health services on September 19, the National Day of Mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.

All health centres, public health units and the Qikiqtani General Hospital (QGH) will remain open for all regular and scheduled clinics, procedures, and appointments.

This includes:

  • Hospital Inpatient ward and Emergency Department.
  • Hospital operating room.
  • Hospital and health centre clinics and primary care clinics.
  • QGH Laboratory.
  • Diagnostic services.
  • Rehabilitation services.
  • Home care services.
  • Dental services.
  • COVID-19 vaccine clinics and appointments.
  • All Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet Public Health services.
  • Mental health and addiction services at health centres and QGH.
  • Akausisarvik and the Cambridge Bay mental health facility.

Greenstone counselling services and paraprofessionals will be closed and will resume regular operations on September 20.

Clients are encouraged to keep their scheduled appointments to avoid delays in care.
