GN ends state of emergency in Kinngait

Kinngait, Nunavut (May 23, 2023) – Effective 12:00 a.m. May 24, 2023, the Minister of Community and Government Services (CGS) David Joanasie has ended the territorial state of emergency in Kinngait.

"I am ending the territorial state of emergency in Kinngait as the issues related to the municipal water infrastructure have been addressed, and municipal services have been restored,” said Minister Joanasie. “I would like to thank the people of Kinngait for their patience while this situation was resolved.”

With the objectives of the declaration achieved, the Hamlet of Kinngait has resumed the delivery of municipal services. The state of emergency for Kinngait was in effect from May 17, 2023, until May 23, 2023.
