Food recall warning due to a toxin –Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Strips

The Department of Health is warning about a recall of Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Strips from stores because they may contain the toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria. Consumers should not purchase or eat the recalled products listed below:

The above-mentioned product should not be eaten. It should be thrown out or returned to the location where it was purchased.

Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may not look or smell spoiled. The toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures.

Common symptoms of Staphylococcus poisoning are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and fever. In severe cases of illness, headache, muscle cramping and changes in blood pressure and pulse rate may occur. If you think you became sick from eating a recalled product, call your local health centre, or go to the hospital.
