Disability Grant available for eligible FANS recipients

Last updated Friday, November 17, 2023

Did you know that Nunavut students with permanent disabilities can apply for a Disability Grant under the Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students (FANS) program to assist with the costs associated with post-secondary education?

The Disability Grant provides a maximum of $8,000 per year for equipment and services directly related to a student’s education.

This is available to recipients of the Basic Grant and does not need to be paid back.

Apply for the Disability Grant by completing the application form and providing a FANS Disability Assessment Form along with a copy of a medical or learning ability assessment by a certified medical professional, describing how the disability impacts your ability to participate in post-secondary studies.

Students only need to complete this application form once each new academic year.

If you have questions about the FANS Disability Grant or need assistance completing your application, contact the FANS office at:

  • @email (Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement).
  • @email (students not enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement).

For more information, visit the FANS webpage.
