Baffin Island caribou moratorium

Start Date: June 4, 2015

End Date: August 31, 2015

Nunavut 30 sec

This is a reminder that since January 1, 2015, it is illegal to hunt or kill caribou anywhere on Baffin Island and its surrounding islands, including Prince Charles Island and Bylot Island.

You can get the map of the affected areas online at env.gov.nu.ca, from your local conservation officer or by calling 867-975-7761.

This moratorium is in place until a formal decision on harvesting levels is made by the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board later this year. Another announcement will be made once that decision is made public.
