Reporting to the Senior Accounting Officer, the Senior Finance Clerk is responsible for providing timely and correct payments to employees and suppliers, securing the handling and depositing of revenues and accurate financial reporting of management decision making at the Department level. The Senior Finance Clerk will be assigned administrative responsibilities such as travel and contacts with internal and external service providers and stakeholders which will impact cost effective arrangements, client satisfaction, effective relationships and work unit effectiveness.
The incumbent will provide input to procedures, controls and tools governing accounting operations and other assigned services. The Senior Finance Clerk will also be responsible for processing, verifying, and maintaining a variety of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The incumbent will maintain data entry and documentation of various financial documents including invoices, expenditures, journal vouchers, receipts and insurance claims.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a high school diploma, along with one (1) year of relevant finance experience in a computerized environment. Experience providing client services is also required
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
