Reporting to the Registration Supervisor, the Registration Clerk is the first point of contact for new and existing patients. The incumbent will register patients using a computerized system, verifying accuracy of all patient information, and providing information to patients and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
The Registration Clerk provides the initial on-site contact with patients, visitors and other staff of the hospital in a courteous manner and directs them to the appropriate area as well as providing information of a general nature. The Registration Clerk operates multi-line telephones and responding to inquiries in a friendly timely manner and maintains a computerized patient registration system. This role also liaises with medical boarding home for patient pick-up and with security for essential staff transportation services.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the successful completion of Grade 12 along with six (6) months related office experience. Completion of Medical Terminology courses is considered an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in Inuktitut is a requirement. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
