NNI Implementation and Accounting Analyst

The Implementation and Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting on the implementation of the Government of Nunavut’s (GN’s) Nunavummi Nangminiqaqtunik Ikajuuti (NNI) Policy in all aspects of the GN’s public procurement that are subject to the NNI policy. This position will monitor the GN’s implementation of the NNI policy with respect to four objectives, namely, ensuring good value and fair competition, strengthening the Nunavut economy, bringing up Inuit participation in the provision of goods and services and finally to increase the number of trained and skilled Nunavut residents in all aspect of the workforce and business community to levels that reflect the Inuit proportion of the Nunavut population. Accomplishment of these objectives will be achieved by appropriate implementation of the various sections of the NNI policy as per 14 of the NNI policy and with the respective requirements in the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.   This position may require travel throughout the year to Nunavut communities in order to monitor and evaluate NNI compliance on construction sites or other projects; travel includes visiting other Government offices in large and small communities with varying degrees of accommodation services.

 

The incumbent would have acquired at least a diploma from a community college in Business Administration or related field, however the required expertise may be acquired through a  combination of education, training and recent experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or other accounting and procurement  practices in government operations.

 

 

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities or other formal education and experience will be considered.

 

If there is no successful Nunavut Land Claims Beneficiary this position will be offered as a 3 year term

 

This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union and has a starting salary of $86,873.00 per annum, plus a Northern Allowance of $15,016.00 per annum.
