Reporting to the Manager, Solutions Delivery, the Technical Writer is responsible for developing written information and documentation pertaining to the organization’s networks, systems, applications, policies, standard operating procedures and business processes. Outputs will include a range of documentation to be read by both technical and non-technical personnel across the Government of Nunavut (GN) departments and agencies. This documentation and information will aid in the overall efficiency and growth of the Information Management/Information Technology division.
The Technical Writer translates complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications such as technical journals, GN proposals, user manuals, websites etc. This position will also gather information through research, statistical reports and interviews with staff across the GN.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized Degree in Technical Communications, Technical Writing or related field and three (3) years of related experience that includes desktop publishing tools. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification will be considered an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in Inuktitut is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
