Student Support Program Implementation & Training Coordinator 2 positions

Reporting to the Manager, Program Implementation and Training (Manager); the Student Support Program Implementation and Training Coordinator (Coordinator) is responsible for providing training and associated assistance to student support teachers and other school based positions responsible for implementing Inclusive Education in Nunavut’s schools as a way of better positioning them to effectively address the needs of students with special and specialized needs navigating the Territory’s Education Program / curriculum.
Nunavut, through its Inclusive Education initiative, commits to providing students with the supports they require to position them for success during their academic career. The incumbent plays a key role in enabling the Department to satisfy this commitment by ensuring that (a) student support staff receive the training they need to properly respond to the specialized / special needs of students, and (b) student support educators are kept informed of all relevant policy, program, procedural, etc. expectations set out by the Department and the Government of Nunavut in their commitment to the provision of quality education.
To be considered, the ideal candidate will have Bachelor’s Degree in Education; 3 years experience working as a Educator/Student Support Teacher in a K-12 setting; 3 years proven experience with project work at the regional/territorial level and experience facilitating/delivering workshops targeted to Student Support Educators. In addition, have the following competencies:
Experience: Successfully designing, developing, modifying, implementing, etc. resources and materials to enable knowledge transfer to groups with varying levels of experience; and proven experience creating instructional material for adult training courses; and previous experience coaching and mentoring staff; and experience managing contractors
Knowledge and skills: On understanding of community, culture-based education; and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit Societal Values; and Graphic Design used in a Northern setting including computers and technology; and program implementation and evaluation approaches.
Skilled facilitator and trainer; and skilled project manager capable of managing a program or project budget. Familiar with or capable becoming familiar with and effectively utilizing the Department’s computerized systems and software.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.
Bachelor of Education with a major in Student Support/Inclusion and Student Support Teacher’s Certificate (Nunavut) are considered as assets.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
