Reporting to the Chair, Industry Training the Senior Instructor, Cooking Program is responsible for management of cooking programs staff and for all aspects in the delivery of apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship cook programs. Organizational responsibilities include for the administration of base funded 3rd party cooking programming, overseeing the budgeting and financial aspects, and for providing the accountability of the various programs accordingly.
The incumbent will manage the campus training facility and the inventory of equipment, tools and supplies including the stock of travelling supplies send with related programs being offered across Nunavut. As part of a key management team, the incumbent provides educational leadership and administration of Trades programming being in part responsible for the successful delivery of the GN TRADES Training Strategy.
The ideal candidate will be a Journeyperson in a Cook certification program completed through apprenticeship. Post-secondary certification/diploma or degree (i.e. adult education) is considered an asset. You will hold or be eligible to hold a Canadian Teaching Certificate; or Certificate in Adult Education. Additional experiences required are;
- Two years in teaching vocational – technical student or mentoring apprentices
- Three years of progressive work experience in the area of instructing.
- Two years of management or supervisory experience.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit as well as the ability to speak Inuktut and/or Inuinnaqtun are also considered as definite assets.
Equivalencies consisting of a combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
