Reporting to the District Director, Kivalliq, Property Management Officer will directly supervise the Accommodations Clerk and the Accommodations Coordinator to ensure effective administration of the staff housing portfolio. The Officer will act as the Chair of the Regional Staff Housing Allocation Committee to coordinate and allocate staff housing throughout the District. The position provides service to client departments and staff requiring residential accommodations. The property Manager Officer is responsible for monitoring all properties to ensure that the buildings are operated and maintained sagely and properly. The Officer manages the day-to-day operation of the Staff Housing Program including owned and leased properties, utilities, and oversight of the staff housing administrative contractors located in applicable communities in the District.
The Property Management Officer is responsible to manage, maintain and administer leased, and owned residential staff housing property located in the District on behalf of the Government of Nunavut. The Officer is responsible for monitoring all properties to ensure that the buildings are operated and maintained safely and properly.
A contextual knowledge of residential property and facilitating property management policies and procedures; experience in working with and evaluating contactors’ performance; and working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act are required for this position. The incumbent should have excellent business communication skills both oral and written ad strong office administration skills. The incumbent should also have the ability to conduct complex negotiations while presenting a competent business like image; ability to plan and implement administrative procedures and ability to multi-task and set priorities. The incumbent must possess a valid Driver’s License or have the ability to attain one.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are normally attained through Real Property Administrator Designation or a diploma in business administration or related field, 3 years related work experience in property management including a minimum of 1 year of supervisor or team lead experience.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French.
Ability to speak two or more of the official languages is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Working knowledge of residential property management software, experience in working with and evaluating contractor’s performance, experience working in a cross-cultural environment would be considered assets for this position.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
