Pay & Benefits Officer 2 Positions

Reporting to the Manager, Pay & Benefits, the incumbent must provide a wide range of Compensation and Benefit advisory and processing services to the employees and managers of the Government of Nunavut.
The Pay & Benefits Officer provides information and expert procedural direction on compensation and benefit entitlements during orientation sessions, on initial hire, during day-to-day transactions and on termination. The position processes a wide variety of complex compensation transactions (promotions/increase/payment recovery/terminations/adjustments) and ensures data integrity for Government of Nunavut Human Resource Information System (HRIS), ePersonality (EP), Carrier’s Benefit HRIS system (GroupNet) and Federal Pension Information System (DCT).
The Pay & Benefits Officer ensures GN compliance with federal and territorial legislation and regulations, collective agreements, the Nunavut Public Service Act and regulations, the Human Resource Manual and Excluded and Senior Manager Handbooks.
The overall result of this position is that employees receive their appropriate compensation in a timely manner and are able to access their benefit entitlements in a prompt, courteous and consistent manner.
The position requires an understanding of all insurance, pension, and other benefits processing requirements. The incumbent should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook; the ability to interpret and implement the various collective agreements, Human Resource Manual, Public Service Act and Regulations and the Superannuation Act and Regulations and work with minimal supervision and remain focused and calm in a fast paced, high stress environment with tight deadlines and constant shifting priorities. Good organization, problem solving, and high interpersonal skills are also required for this position.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with two years’ experience manipulating/utilizing a complex, comprehensive, HR information system and/or payroll systems.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
