This employment opportunity is restricted to Government of Nunavut employees only.

Reporting to the Director of Recruiting & Staffing, the Manager is responsible for the administration of the centralized staffing process in Iqaluit in accordance with the Public Service Act, regulations and Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.  This position provides strategic advice and support to Government of Nunavut (GN) departments and provides direction and advice to staffing practitioners in headquarters, regional offices and departments with delegated hiring authority.

The Manager, Staffing will be responsible for managing a team of staffing practitioners to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of staffing services to GN departments. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring human resources policies and procedures are clearly understood, precisely followed and properly documented, while ensuring the Priority Hiring Policy is consistently adhered to for all positions being staffed.  The Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering training sessions and/or presentations related to staffing. 

The successful candidate should have a degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field plus four (4) years of experience in human resources with an emphasis on staffing/recruiting. In addition, two (2) years of demonstrated experience developing and leading a team.  Experience developing and delivering training sessions and/or presentations related to staffing.  The incumbent must be knowledgeable about various human resources policies and procedures, including Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.  

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
