Manager, Finance & Administration

The newly created Department of Human Resources came into force April 1, 2019 and we are looking to recruit a Manager, Finance and Administration to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, this position provides a wide range of financial management and administrative services to the department including the day to day management of the department’s integrated accounts payable function, budget development, the ongoing development and support of financial procedures/internal controls and management reporting systems.
The Manager will ensure that effective financial controls are in place and that all financial translations are processed on a timely and accurate basis, and in accordance with the Government of Nunavut (GN) Financial Administration Act, Regulations, Collective Agreements, and applicable policies and procedures. The position exercises significant payment authority for the Headquarters and Regional Offices and performs the role in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Degree from a recognized university in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field, plus three (3) years of related accounting and finance experience at a management or senior officer level. In addition, you must have one (1) year of experience supervising staff and /or leading a team. Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) would be considered an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
