As per HRM Directive 518, this employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit.

Reporting to the Director, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), the Iviqtippalliajut Senior Advisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating program delivery and reporting. The incumbent will administer tasks to ensure that scheduled IQ/Inuit Societal Values (ISV) programs and actions are taken, objectives are reached, progress data is collected / monitored, and corrective measures are taken. The position is also responsible for the coordinating of all Department of Culture and Heritage (CH) elements of the implementation of Iviqtippalliajut.

The position is the lead of the interdepartmental Iviqtippalliajut Working Group, which is a group of all Iviqtippalliajut coordinators. This working group will provide strategic planning support and monitoring of departments’ implementation of Iviqtippalliajut. This position will also maintain a steady intake of administrative tasks including planning, policy, development of guidelines, templates, and programs within a predetermined budget, and communication responsibilities to meet the government’s commitment of the implementation of IQ/ISV. 

The knowledge, skills, and experience required for this job are normally obtained through a degree in Indigenous studies, education or a related field along with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Practical northern experience in relation to language and culture, prior learning recognition along with policy experience is also required for the position.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French.  Fluency in Inuktitut is a requirement.  Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
