Human Resources Assistant

The Human Resources Assistant provides coordination, tracking and reporting support to Manager, Human Resources. This support is required to ensure smooth functioning within the Department. This position impacts on the efficiency of Corporate Services and in turn the services provided to employees of the Department of Family Services.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources this position is responsible for the daily upkeep, verification, tracking and processing of all leave and attendance, overtime, acting pay and lieu time for Headquarters’ staff and will assist the Regions when requested. The incumbent provides human resource support to employees and senior management on employee leave and attendance and credit balances. The successful incumbent will be responsible for key data entry and verification of Human Resources Information Systems input for the Department. The position requires the incumbent to maintain confidentiality regarding the substance and structure of the work undertaken and is fundamental to the strategic and operational aspects of the department.
The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job would normally be obtained by having a Grade 12 along with one (1) year of relevant experience.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Ability to speak one or more of Nunavut’s official languages is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is also considered an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
