Reporting to the Supervisor, health Programs, the Housekeeper provides general housekeeping, laundry, and linen services to ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the facility to improve appearance and reduce the risk of infection and disease.
Housekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping and laundry of the facility. Housekeeping and laundry duties are provided for the patients, and other workers as assigned. The position has a direct impact on the public’s eye on cleanliness, appearance and overall health of the facility.
Weekend shifts are a requirement of the position. This position may require shift work, depending on the community, including weekends and statutory holidays as the facility operates on a 24/7 basis year round.
Qualifications for this position are typically gained through a Grade 8 education. Assets for this position would include WHMIS, Class 5 Driver’s license and 1 year housekeeping and/or laundry experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
The ability to communicate in more than 1 of Nunavut’s official languages is considered an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
