Reporting to the Settlement Maintenance Supervisor, the Facility Maintainer performs preventative maintenance inspections, services and repairs to ensure the performance of facility systems, subsystems and components in all facilities within the designated area.

Through the provision of preventative maintenance services, the incumbent provides the day-to-day checks, the legislative and code-required monitoring, testing, servicing and inspection of facility systems, sub-systems and components and the scheduled inspection, servicing and adjustment to ensure they are performing as intended and reach their service life. Through the provisions of repair services, the incumbent fixes or replaces broken, worn or faulty components as required to address issues that are identified through the course of regular preventative maintenance inspections.

The incumbent impacts the efficiency of the Government of Nunavut departments and agencies (GN) by ensuring the integrity of the facilities and built environment that directly supports the services provided by other departments as well as all Nunavummiut within the designated area.

To be invited for an interview, you must possess Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber/Gasfitter, Oil Burner Mechanic, Third, Fourth or Fifth Class Stationary Engineer, with 2 year’s work experience.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset; Knowledge with respect to Computerized Maintenance Management Systems; Experience related to cold climate construction; Working in a cross cultural environment.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
