Located in Cape Dorset and reporting to the Qikiqtaaluk District Director of Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) and as a member of the management team, this position performs a dual function by providing financial support to the Corporation, and monitoring, evaluating and assisting the Local Housing Organizations in the District in all financial matters. The District Comptroller is responsible for the management and operation of the financial, administration and human resources support services. In addition, the incumbent also provides a fiduciary role in managing the District Office’s assets and in the provision of effective financial management reporting to the District and Directorate Offices.
The ideal candidate will have a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) and at least five (5) years of related accounting experience along with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience. Knowledge of the Financial Administration Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards will be needed to perform the duties of this position. The incumbent will require strong management skills including, analytical, organizational and time management. The incumbent will also need solid computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
The incumbent must be able to work successfully in a cross-cultural environment and considerable travel to small communities, sometimes in light aircraft and in adverse weather conditions is required.
Equivalencies consisting of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities equal in worth to the formal education and experience requirements will be considered
