Administrative Support Officer
This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit only.
Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations and Job Evaluation, the Administrative Support Officer provides administrative and secretarial support to the Director and staff in the Employee Relations Unit. The Division is in contact with departmental executives, management, Union leaders, and Government of Nunavut (GN) employees. This position supports good employee/employer relations by contributing to customer service and efficiency of the Division through effective administrative support.
This position is a key member of the team who is responsible for preparing complex documents and materials, organizing the physical and electronic files used by divisional staff and arranging travel, events and meetings for the Director and Employee Relations staff. There is a high volume of sensitive and confidential matters and at times you will work under the pressure of deadlines and heavy work load volume. Daily attention to detail is required plus tact and diplomacy when receiving clients and members of the public.
The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or Secretarial training (Certificate or Diploma). In addition, at least two (2) years’ related work experience is required. The ability to work in both English and Inuktitut is a requirement for this position. Knowledge of human resources manuals and procedures would be an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
