The Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) is hiring Instructors to join the Nunavut Teacher Education Program in the communities of Arviatand Kugaaruk NU. Reporting to the Program Manager NTEP, the incumbent is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of courses and programs for the student teachers registered in the College’s Teacher Education Program. The incumbent will deliver lessons using a variety of instructional strategies and will review and utilize course materials and content to enhance courses. The Instructor, NTEP provides ongoing evaluation, support and guidance to students. Planning, delivering and analyzing course content is also an ongoing responsibility.

The Nunavut Teacher Education Program is offered in partnership with the Faculty of Education, University of Regina and the Nunavut Department of Education. The incumbent will be required to meet various student needs and meet the standards established by the College and the University of Regina. The incumbent must implement effective organizational measures to meet program requirements and reporting deadlines. The applicant must also be prepared to travel to other communities for periods of up to 20 days, two to three times a year.

Applicants must possess a Master’s of Education Degree or a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a field appropriate to NTEP program offerings.  This will include course work in Inuktitut, English Language; Mathematics; Biology; Computer Studies; Fine Arts; Physical Education; Science; or Educational Psychology. A Bachelor of Education is also required. A minimum of 5 years recent teaching experience is required with a minimum of 3 of those years spent teaching grades within kindergarten to grade 12. Instructional experience in adult education and/or experience in teacher training is required. Computer literacy and strong communication skills, flexibility and good organizational skills are required. The incumbent must also have the ability to work independently. Assets for the position include personal counselling experience, and fluency in Inuktitut.  Knowledge of Inuit Cultural Traditions would be an asset.  Resumes will be submitted to the University of Regina to ensure they meet the teaching standards and the minimum qualifications of our partner institution.
