As per HRM Directive 518, this employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit only.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services the Senior Finance Clerk provides accounts payable, accounts receivable and revenue services. This includes data entry, verification, reconciliation, investigation, correction, reporting, assigned administrative services and advice to clients in accordance with financial and other applicable legislation, policies, procedures, processes and collective agreements. Advice provided across the department enhances compliance with legislation and policy requirements.

Some of the responsibilities of the position include: processing a variety of accounts payable and accounts receivable, such as revenue, bills, invoices, account statements, payroll, purchase orders, cheques; verifying the accuracy of calculations, coding and supporting documents; providing advice to departmental employees on the correct application of accounting; producing various financial documentation such as form letters to accompany invoice variances. You will also maintain assigned financial control documents/databases such as specimen signature cards and archive documents in accordance with records management.

The successful candidate of this positon will have a High School Diploma plus a minimum of one (1) year of relevant financial experience in a computerized environment. You must also have experience in providing client services.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. The successful candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year of relevant finance experience in a computerized environment  and experience in providing client services is also required.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
