The Department of Health and Social Services, Qikiqtaaluk Region is looking for you to help make a difference in your community as and in Nunavut.
Reporting to the Supervisor Community Public Health, the Community Health Representative works with a variety of health professionals in the prevention of disease and maintenance of health, and protection of individuals and communities from harmful exposure to disease and disability. In promoting health, the Community Health Representative observes the cultural values of the community in which he/she works. The responsibilities of the CHR include working with members of the Health Promotion Team, other Community Program Staff, such as Nurses, Social Workers and other Organizations for example shelters and elders centers in promoting health to all staff and general public.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of health assessment systems in an approved CHR training program including knowledge of current trends in health education, disease prevention, practices and programs. Knowledge of CPR, Computers and the ability to communicate effectively in Inuktitut and English both verbal and written is an asset. You should also be able to perform a variety of screening task and to work independently and as a team player.
Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered
