The Occupational Therapist is a registered health professional who is part of the rehabilitation team in the Department of Health and reports to the Qikiqtani Regional Rehabilitation Manager. The incumbent plans, develops, organizes, delivers and evaluates Occupational Therapy services to all populations in the Qikiqtani Region.

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for decisions regarding all aspects of occupational therapy client care, as well as clinical supervision of Community Therapy Assistants. The incumbent develops and delivers skills training to families, communities, home-care workers, community members, organizations and other health professionals.

As the successful candidate, you have a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and are a registrant in good standing with a College of Occupational Therapists in a Canadian province.  You should have a broad base of clinical experience with one year of clinical experience preferred.  For this position you also require: specialized professional knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention related to a wide variety of patient populations, the ability to make clinical decisions and recommendations at the professional level, specialized knowledge of assessment and prescription of adaptive devices in a northern context, clinical knowledge about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and a wide variety of pediatric congenital and acquired neurological conditions.  You must have the ability to organize work with minimal supervision and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required and excellent computer skills and the ability to learn a variety of software is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Term until August 24th, 2018. Current Indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees that apply and are successful on this term position may be offered an internal transfer assignment for the duration of the term.
