Foxes in Taloyoak

The Department of Health is advising Taloyoak residents that a dog has been in contact with a fox. The fox has not been confirmed rabid, but has been sent for testing. For public safety reasons all dogs should be tied up at this time.

Dogs and foxes can transmit rabies to people. If you have been bitten or scratched, or had any contact with a fox, please go to the health centre and report the incident immediately. Treatment must be started quickly.

If you see a fox or wolf wandering around the community, or if your dog has had contact with a fox or wolf or is behaving abnormally, call the conservation officer immediately at 867-561-6231or the regional environmental health officer at 867-983-5241.
