Oral health clinic for infants and children in Arctic Bay, Cape Dorset and Repulse Bay

The Nunavut Oral Health pilot project is starting in Arctic Bay, Cape Dorset and Repulse Bay on September 30, 2013. The goal of this initiative is to promote good oral health and prevent dental illness in children up to 7 years of age.

A dental health team consisting of a dentist, dental assistant,dental Therapist and a community Oral Health coordinator will provide  examinations for infants and children up to the age of 7. All examinations will include checking the gums and teeth. Each child will receive some preventive treatments, including sealant and fluoride treatment and temporary fillings.

Children will receive a free dental kit that includes toothbrush and toothpaste. All caregivers of children who attend an appointment will have their names placed in a prize draw to win a healthy meal bag.
