Mental Health

 

Mental health or wellness is not only the avoidance of mental illness. It also means having positive self-esteem, strong cultural identity, in addition to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

When we are mentally healthy, we enjoy our life and environment, and the people in it. Mental health allows us to be creative, learn and try new things. We are also better able to cope with difficult times in our personal and professional lives

When we are not mentally healthy, we are more likely to do things that will harm ourselves and the people around us.

If you feel you are not mentally well, you are not alone. 1 in 5 Canadians will personally experience a mental illness in their lifetime. More and more, mental health and mental illness are getting the attention they deserve and people are seeking help.
